European stocks experienced a positive day of trading on Friday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index (XX:SXXP) finishing up 1.11% at 483.84.
Positive Gains for Major European Indices
The French CAC 40 index (FR:PX1) gained 2.28% to reach 7,634.14, while the FTSE 100 index (UK:UKX) rose 1.40% to 7,635.09, and the German DAX (DX:DAX) increased by 0.32% to 16,961.39.
Top Performers
Among the constituents of the Stoxx Europe 600 index, media/entertainment company Viaplay Group AB Series B (SE:VPLAY) saw the largest increase on Friday, with shares surging by an impressive 19.2%.
Shares of Remy Cointreau S.A. (FR:RCO) and health care/life sciences company Lonza Group AG (CH:LONN) also recorded significant gains of 15.2% and 14.4% respectively.
MorphoSys AG (XE:MOR), a health care/life sciences company, and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (FR:MC) rounded out the top five, with their stocks jumping 13.8% and 12.8% respectively.
Decliners in the Market
RWE AG (XE:RWE) witnessed the largest drop among Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, as shares weakened by 6.0% on Friday.
Other notable decliners included investing/securities firm Worldline S.A. (FR:WLN) and industrial goods company Signify N.V. (NL:LIGHT), both experiencing a decline of 5.2%.
Centrica PLC (UK:CNA) and technology business BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. (NL:BESI) completed the list of top five largest decreases, with their stocks declining 4.6% and 4.1% respectively.
Currency and Commodity Movements
The Pound (GBPUSD) showed a slight increase of 0.06% against the Dollar, while the Euro (EURUSD) experienced a more notable rise of 0.17%. Notably, Brent crude oil (UK:BRN00) declined by 1.09%, settling at $81.07.
Yield Changes
The yield on the 10-year gilt (BX:TMBMKGB-10Y) fell by 1.95 basis points to reach 3.972%, while the yield on the German 10-year bund (BX:TMBMKDE-10Y) increased by 0.990 basis points to 2.30%.
